Yes, that is fine.
okay thanks, i just put some substrate ive got from the pet shop down road awhile ago but its actually already a bit dampish in the bag. ive noticed that the tarantula doesnt move any legs unless i shine a torch directly at it for a few seconds and the longer the torch is shining at it the more leg movement im seeing. could the T be cold and it likes the warmth from the light? could that be an issue that its temperature isnt very good?. i dont actually wanna hurt the tarantula incase the torch could hurt it or stress it out but it tends to move with the torch on. please let me know, thanks.

Might want to up it to 71 degrees F, see if that makes a difference at all. Hard to tell what is going on.

You’d be surprised dude, sometimes the slightest change makes a difference.

i accidentally replied with nothing, okay. when my dads back home ill up it to 22 degress celcius which is a bit higher than 71 degrees Fahrenheit. meanwhile should i chuck a cricket in the freezer kill it and see if the tarantula will eat in the morning? as thats the only other thing i can think of unless you or anyone else would have any idea what i could do

It may not like the cold cricket, try crushing the head of a fresh one and leaving it near the T. If the pre-killed prey is there by morning, it’s definitely not hungry.

what i was going to do is freeze it to kill it and it would stay fresh, take it out the freezer to obviously warm up a bit and then leave it infront of the cricket. i cant really get my fingers on the lil buggers as they are quick and wouldnt be able to get its head off. hence my suggestion

i will also say, there is a dead almost molding old cricket directly under it right now and as its slowly slowly moving around but curled up, couldve it tried to eat that old cricket and got poorly? i shouldve mentioned this sooner as it could be the problem. this cricket was put in its tub 22nd of june as thats when i fed my tarantulas last and it didnt eat this one.

If you didn’t have springtails, it should have been removed within 24 hours of being in the enclosure.

i dont have springtails in any of my enclosures and i went on holiday which is why it was left in there, im not able to remove it as the tarantula is directly on top of it as of this moment. i will remove it as soon as it moves if it does. would this be the reason of my tarantulas weird behaviour? sorry about my lack of knowledge ive have tarantulas for a few months now but still a beginner and learning how to take care of them.

I would assume it would have very little to do with the tarantulas condition. I am still having a hard time picturing what is going on to be honest. The tarantula is basically immobile, with only slight movements of the legs, correct?

I’d put the fresh pre-killed cricket in the enclosure, to see if she shows interest in it. If she moves off of the moldy cricket, you could then remove it.

yes thats exactly whats going on and that is the plan. how do i kill a cricket without it jumping away but without having to freeze kill it. that would mean freezer overnight then taking it out to warm up in room temperature to them go into the enclosure. just because i struggle getting these crickets in all of my tarantulas enclosures but how would i kill one.

Just crush the head with tongs or similar tools. Do you have tongs?

Brotha get a small bowl or Tupperware container, pour one in, crush the head with the tongs, drop for the tarantula.

Whatever works for you, just make sure the feeder has no contact with chemicals.

The feeders do not have calcium dusted on them, right?
