Thats kind of a catch 22 for anyone who hasn’t sold anything before. I know when I started here it took me 3 or 4 sales before I could actually convince a buyer to take the time to give me a review. Prior to that I was almost surprised that I was able to find someone to buy from me since I didn’t have any reviews.

No matter what, you definitely have to be careful buying online...

I appreciate that but I think most people can also judge by the quality of posts made by a seller and the time they have been members. This guy was new with no posts which would ring a warning bell.

A seller would just have to participate in a few threads, show their knowledge, and make a few points of contact here. Once they make a sale and get a review thread going, they're up and running. Links from other forum reviews work too. I bought from @Metalman2004 just because I knew him from posts, I don't recall even checking his reviews.

Yeah it’s the asshats that waste the trust... One thing I know for sure is that 99.9% of T keepers would never intentionally rob a fellow enthusiast (don’t quote me lol).. Surely a serious seller would at least have an account where they’re known somewhere online anyway?
Now I'm scare about to buy tarantulas online I know no all the people be scammer but this time i learn before to buy

I would always ask on this forum or read reviews before buying. I like purchasing at expos but that's not always possible for all. I would never buy from someone online without some positive reviews though. Hope alot of people learn something from this thread.

I don't know if banning would even help. He could come back with a different email address. He many have multiple accounts already.

Luckily this is something Yvonne G can deal with. She has already banned 10 of Therma1979's IP addresses and many of Spider_man's 200+

Wow, 200+ IP addresses?! Thats going above and beyond to scam people. At some point an honest job is easier than scamming and I can’t imagine he’s making an insane amount of money off these scams.

200 IP addresses !!! ??

At some point, like a long time ago, law enforcement should get involved. Nothing puts a stop to these sorts of CRIMES like some time in the slammer.

If it's across state lines, congrats punk, that's federal and the FBI will just love to talk to you.

I was wondering if anyone was tracking ip addresses, on a fb group I owned an american member tracked a troll down to his house in Tasmania Australia which pulled his head right in!
Another troll was actually arrested in Scotland for sending death threats to an admin, pictures of guns, knives etc. The admin happened to be an IT professional that provided the police with his home address, he was charged with multiple offences, having a fake username and email address doesn't make you anonymous to someone with the right skills.
With that many ip addresses though this guy is obviously tech savy and rerouting through different servers each time, something for the authorities for sure.
