Can i ask a really newbie question. My Nerris has just backed herself into the corner and squirted white stuff, just a spot of it. Is that her going to the toilet?....also, i know they have no ears and its vibrations etc but do you think she could know by the pitch of my voice that its me opening the lid? She doesn't move until i start saying 'Hey Nay-Nay!' My new little nickname for her. Not those words all the time but you get what i mean. I tested her when i got home as she was facing away and i gently removed the lid and waited, she did nothing, but then i started talking and she came over and stood in front of me looking at me! Am i just hoping for an impossible thing or do you think she knows? I talk to her every day. Sorry i've not been round much, had a bad december and january.

Oh, I hope you are ok now. Yes it sounds like Nerris had a dump. I'm not sure if they know who it is when we talk to them. Most of mine acknowledge that something is happening when I take there lids off but they probably associate lid off with being fed.

I always talk to mine, be it cleaning or feeding, and haven't noticed anything...it maybe possible she equates feeding with you talking though...they aren't social animals, so she isn't looking to you for attention, likely just food.

If you are looking straight at her when you talk, it could be your breath that she's detecting. Most T's really don't like to be breathed on, and it could be the feeding time thing as Harleyqueen said - don't know many animals that aren't motivated by food.:)

There was a lovely grey Rosie at the shop that I fell in love with, but Cade wanted the little one; so Noelle came home and I am glad in the end she was the one he picked...she's so much fun!

sorry if this comes off nasty cause i'm not trying to be.... just don't know another way to put it ...ditch the stones and get some ecoearth or peat they will love you for it..... as long as it's dry :)
You're ok mate, any advice is cool ta. They're not stones, it's vermiculite mixed in with peat. I use more peat in the mix for more humidity, (E. Murinus especially). The Rosies mix is very dry, but if you still say getting rid of them would be better for the spider then I'll do it. Cheers.

There was a beautiful one at a little pet shop when I went home, wish I could have gotten it, but my aunt wouldn't let it in the house :( I think a rosie is the next T I want, all of yours are so pretty.
We need to start a campaign to cure arachnophobia. It's a shame so many people don't like them. We won't use atx's rose in the campaign tho incase she goes nutbar lol.

We can use Noelle...only if everyone agrees not to have any bottle caps in the vicinity LOL
Would she swap the bottle cap for a teddy bear,, I think a tarantula with a teddy would be a real crowd please. She would single handedly cure the whole world of arachnophobia.
