Thought I'd give a bit of an update about my newly caught jumping spider!
So he (unconfirmed gender) has officially been named Tiny Tim for I have never seen a jumping spider as young as he is.
So I know you guys were against the idea of a 10 gallon tank for a small jumping spider but I'm...
So I have an extra 10 gallon tank siting around and was curious if I modified the lid if a jumping spider I have caught would do well in it?
I've got him in a 36 OZ container at the minute and the spider is very active so I feel it is not a good fit for him long term.
The articles I've read...
In the short few hours that I've had mine I've definitely noticed that! Mine saw the crickets leg move and struck, the cricket hadn't even been walking. It was both amazing and incredible he could find his food so quickly!
I think I will avoid the exo terra's then, as after I looked at mine (I...
New owner of a jumping spider here!
So I've got a couple or questions for anyone willing to answer them.
His (unknown gender just going with he for now) cage setup at present is a 1/4 inch layer of coco fiber, and two cut down exo terra plants for coverage and climbing. He is in a tall...
I was considering LLLReptile, but I was reading further reviews and decided against it. I like the products but would rather buy from a highly rated tarantula seller for live animals.
I will use 7 inches for sure. I actually think I may just use my spare 10 gallon for now. I've seen some nice...
I couldn't see what the lid looked like in the image's provided but I will definitely be getting an acrylic one should the cage arrive with an unsuitable lid.
Thanks so much for the information on the substrate!
I will be looking into KenTheBugGuy for sure.
Thanks so much!!!
Hey again.
Sorry as I don't know where to put this thread so feel free to move it :)
I know I previously was thinking of getting the Mexican Red Knee but I've seem to drifted towards getting a Aphonopelma seemanni.
So I was wandering the LLLReptile website and saw they have a Aphonopelma...
So I've decided after much research and help from this forum that I think a B smithi would be the perfect starter tarantula for me.
This is the adult enclosure and care plan.
So basically here's what the basic setup would be.
Exo Terra 12" 12" 12" (with modified lid)
Eco Earth (coconut...
Thank so much! This was exactly what I needed :)
I think I've decided that these are the ones I will be researching more on Aphonopelma Seemanni, Brachypelma Smithi, as well as the brachypelma boehmei.
I did forget to include in the original that the cage does come with a half log/cork round...
Hey!
I previously posted on here regarding getting a tarantula, but have since decided against that species for lack of space.
So I want to know what species you think would be good for me based on these supplies I would be purchasing. I would like a terrestrial spider.
The first item is the...
Yes I've seen the other threads, most from 2006 and 2013 however. Just wanted to see if the overall opinions changed any :)
I'm glad to hear that you haven't had any problems especially with the top. I'd like to keep the mesh if possible but should they decide to climb I will of course change...
Oh gosh! I only have so much room haha. I'm already trying to hold myself back and I haven't even got any yet!
I'm sure I'll get sucked into more especially with gorgeous tarantulas like the photo provided! I'd like to pretend I'll only have a small collection but seeing how others in the...
Thanks for the reply!
Glad to hear this is a possibility! I've got some plans for the other species I wish to keep (custom made acrylic cage) since the exo terra won't work for that one. I'm so glad to hear that an Exo Terra would work for a smithi however!
From the responses on my other...
I've always found forums much more helpful then Facebook groups, seems like more experienced people are here vs facebook.
Seems like everyone says I'll get more at some point haha, I already have some more species I really like but am limiting myself to 2 at current :D
Thanks for the warm...
