G porteri will turn brown over time, when the molt cycle is abnormaly long.
While beautiful, your tarantula does not "love" to be handled. It may tolerate it, my bring you joy, and done properly wont harm the tarantula. I have a few G pulchra that try to exit their enclosures on occasion when i open them.
