I have been keeping Ts for about a year and a half. I have never bred any yet. Yesterday, my male and female P. "machala" had an "encounter". Whether or not it resulted in a successful insemination, I do not know, but the male survived the event. Should I wait a few days and try again? if so, how many? Would be very cool to end up with a viable egg sack. I like this species. Beautiful and full of personality. I did load them up with dubias beforehand to hopefully lessen the chance of a "dinner date".

From what I've seen (never attempted breeding myself yet) most people will attempt a pairing again a couple of days after. The more encounters they have, the more change of an eggsac :)

See if he makes a sperm web to recharge his peds, and feed her.
If both those thing happen, pair them again.

Was the encounter deliberate or did they bump into each other like on line at the bank or in the laundry room?

They were paired purposefully. I gave them both a number of dubias the day before. It has been 1 week since the encounter. I plan to try again after their next feed. The male is in his full adult colors, would like to give him a chance to procreate before his expiration date

Where's the mature male? I'm not seeing a purple spider. Even my penultimate male has some purple on it. Is it your lighting?View attachment 61069

colors were much more vivid a few of months ago right after molting. His abdomen is getting a little bare but he isn't showing any signs of premolt behavior

Is this pic from before he matured.? To be honest it doesn’t look like a MM to me and quite possibly not male at all. Like arachnoclown said the purples should be really noticeable at that size. Someone please correct me if I’m wrong but I believe pamphos have tibial hooks and I’m not seeing any in that photo. Hopefully I’m wrong though.
