never used perlite either. Used vermiculite previously (about 15 to 20 years ago thats all that was ever used for the full substrate not just a mix). I have all my Ts on coco fibre now. It seems to retain moisture well enough where needed. All 3 of my theraphosa species are on it.
The closest store to me is Petco COco fiber is ok right? I saw u had your t's on it, and your message above. I have mosses I Propogated as well. That should be fine right?

Coco fiber is coco fiber. I'm sure Petco-branded coco fiber is the same.

Coco fiber by itself doesn't hold burrows when it dries out.
Some folks mix top soil into it, just make sure any substrate you use is pesticide-free.

I use a mix of coco fiber, peat moss, play sand and finely shredded sphagnum moss but I'm a weirdo ;)
