Hey! I'm Clementine!
I've been keeping spiders and tarantulas for about half a year now! It all started with my false black widow Mocha who I caught in the back of the Petco I used to work at. Working at a pet store I got to face my fears and interact with all sorts of exotic animals I never even dreamed of handling. However, I had a problem. I already have two chihuahuas at home to worry about and living with family meant I couldn't realistically get away with keeping anymore large pets in the house. Which got me thinking, we sell jumping spider cribs, why don't I just catch myself a pet! I learned all I could and took care of Mocha until she passed away about 5 months later. I was distraught and learned as much as I could so I could avoid making any of the mistakes I may or may not have made raising her. It wasnt until a few weeks afterward that the Vet I was working with (transferred from Petco to Vetco) mentioned I should get a Tarantula! My initial thought was "What?? Me?? Keep a tarantula?? Could I really do that??". But over time watching a few YouTube videos from the Tarantula Collective and Clint's Reptiles, my disbelief and doubt turned into curiosity, then into excitement! My mind had been expanded and there was no going back. Fast forward about a month later and here I am caring for 7 Tarantulas, 3 Jumping Spiders, and 6 Blue Feigning Death Beetles! May the collection keep growing!
