Can anybody tell me a little bit about the Hapalopus sp tarantula?

Mine is slightly spastic but I have it set up where it can find hiding spots. So zero escape attempts. Had to practically drag it out when I re-housed.

Oh wow! That is a gorgeous one! What's his/her name? Truth me told, I just like to keep the substrate shallow and set up lots of cozy little places to hide. the thought of a burrowing tarantula makes me nervous because technically as it's dad if I haven't seen it in a while I have this instinct to check on it as I would any animal I have and in this case would probably be injected with venom if I disturbed him not knowing where he is. This is especially true since my house is pretty dry and I'd have to keep constant humidity up and would end up worrying even more

I mean my god, that's a huge ass. It should bring all the boys to the yard..
@Kymura , your's is grossly obese...lmao it looks like me after thanksgiving dinner..:p
That just might be because she ate her entire cleaning crew :/ Now remember, I feed my T's, so she wasn't desperate for food. There were six of them in there and poof! Less than one day and they were gone. That's half the reason I re-housed the little monster, but I sifted her old sub and she got them all.

Don't know what the gender is yet, but I always say she in hopes it ends up a female.
Name is Goblin, and she's still pretty small, but I see her more and more as she grows.

Use brushes and tongs, not fingers, if you have to check on them. My lemon patch is a dirt hole, not even that as it always has the burrow covered. I use a small makeup brush to lift the dirt covered web to make sure it's alive maybe every other month. Wondering if they hibernate in the winter months.

My sp. Columbia has a web hide it made that it stays in under a leaf. She's never tried to escape, runs into this hide if her enclosure is disturbed. She'll chase a lateralis roach all over though so I get to see her every feeding night ;)

Weird..I have 6 slings, with only rocks and sticks to web to for cover, and burrows of course, but they are out constantly..they only hide briefly when I open their house...these are very healthy, active spiders. The fact that a giant tarantula lover likes them so much should speak volumes;) I compare them to the gbb alot, but the fact is i like them much more. And I really like gbbs.

I still like the GBB better. but these are Pumpkin Patches are neck and neck :) same feeding response, they'll chase a roach down in no time flat. Fun thing is giving them a roach just a bit big for their size and watching them catch it. I've sat there for a good 15 minutes watching the roach and sp Columbia doing laps around the enclosure :D
