Best food for a Chilean Rose

I have had my Rose (called Marmite) for about 14 months now and for the last 4 months she has been really fussy with her food, I have tried various size crickets/locust but nothing to big, has anyone else had this problem or is there any other food that I could try?

Hi there
That is a beautiful tarantula you have there. You can also try feeding her ****roaches, meal worms, silk worms and supra worms. I prefer roaches as I breed my own food and I found roaches the easiest. Good luck.

I also prefer roaches myself. Get a dubia colony started and you'll have a self sustaining food source!

Been thinking about that as I have a breading pair of bearded dragons as well.

Not sure how to start it off tho and where to get them from as nowhere local to me in the UK sells them, also not sure about online suppliers as heard bad thing, anyone any ideas

Is she not eating at all? If this is the case she may be approaching a molt.

She has been off her food for about 4 mths,probably killed her food 3 or 4 times an eaten once or twice in that 4 mth time

my rosea did that too! but for 4 months its probably just a routine fast. roseas are know to fast for a LONG time. no need to worry just make sure she has clean water

She's probably just not hungry or premolt. G rosea are known for long fasts. I wouldn't worry. If a cricket doesn't get a feeding response from her, nothing will. I would keep her water dish full, and offer prey every 2 weeks. If she doesn't eat it, just take it back out.

Update on Marmite....she has surprised me with a molt and she looks stunning now, colour really showing, in the last 5 days she has eaten 3 big morio worm, seems to love them, offered her cricket/small locust but won't eat, but really loves morio's. Here's a fre pics.....

Shows how different they are:
My Rosea doesn't touch Morio Worms, Black Crickets or Dubia Roaches, but eats Brown Crickets and Turkistan Roaches without bother. She too goes into long fasting phases (2-4 months), but also binges on food before that (has weeks when she's always hungry).

Have got a good supplier of morio worms now so probably gonna stick with them for a while as can use them for my dragons as well as my Rose
