1.25" Grammostola Pulchra Care Help

Hello, I have my first Tarantula (Grammostola Pulchra), and my main concern has been how much I should be wetting the substrate at a size of 1.25". I know they don't like much and should be essentially dry as adults. Am I nearing the stage that I can relax a bit more on watering? I've been wetting the upper part of the substrate, and most of the time it sits at the back of the hide I provided it. It's dug a bit of a hole in there. Not a tunnel system or anything, just excavated more room.

I would keep the substrate dry just keep a water bowl in there nothing to deep at that size . I have no experience in Keeping G. pulchra but G.pulchripes I have and that is how I raised my slings.

Don't worry about making the substrate wet? Should I replace the bit at the top then or just leave it?

See nothing wrong with the set up. At that size I would just overflow the water dish a bit and your spood should let you know if it likes or dislikes the added moisture. I always keep a dry area even with my more moisture dependent species. Happy Spoodering!

If it doesn't like moisture, couldn't water in front of the dish cause it to not want to go near it? Also with the way things are, it'll tend to trickle down towards its hide if I do that.

If you move the water dish could that help ya out.? My A. Genic before it molted into a MM would stay around the water dish so much we called it "Lucky's swimming pool"! So we overflowed copiously because we knew Lucky liked his humidity/ moist substrate. T's will, most of time, give you a indication whether they like or abhore the moisture. Majority of my Baboon species seem to prefer things dryer so these I will not overflow. And if your spider desires a drink I doubt it will develop any types of hydrophobia and avoid the water dish. Happy Spoodering!

If your T does not like the wet substrate like Tarantula Troopers says it will not walk on it .If thats the case you can let it dry out or replace it .
Can't tell to be honest, it's been pretty skiddish since the day I got it. Stays in its hide most of the time until it gets dark and by then I'm already asleep. If I wake up around 5 AM I'll usually see it sitting outside.
