OBT or E olivacea?

Disregarding price, which one webs more & has a colorful attitude? Which one is more hardy? Best appetite?

I have this empty enclosure complete with a feeding port for a semi arboreal or fully arboreal sling that is just begging to be filled.

Obt, in answer to every question. They are without doubt the most prolific webbers I've seen. Awesome enclosures..you wont see them unless you lure the out with food, or catch them out at night. But they eat well and are tough little spiders. Cant go wrong with an obt.

Just dont play pattycakes, and for gods sake, dont let them build up centripital force in a bathtub...lol

I'm watching videos of them, didn't know that E olivacea was that same slick black underneath as well.

It's kinda like an OBT at a black tie event!!

I have both and if you want web go for the Encyocrotella olivacea, mine completely filled its 8”x4”x4” container with web and I do mean completely. I rehoused it yesterday and had quite a job finding the T it was so well hidden and the web so strong.
Mine are both good feeders

Both are basically the same. They are even found in the same regions.

Both web like crazy. But olivacea maybe a little more. They also have the same attitude ;)

The only difference is that olivacea is an arboreal.

I always understood both were semi-arboreal.

My first and third species was an OBT. If you don't have one yet I'm going to strongly emplore you to get on. They are a fossorial species, so give them room to dig and some climbing space.

Both OBTs and Encyocrotella olivacea are semi arboreal. If you give them too much substrate then yes they will burrow but give them less and they will web upwards.

Okay, sure, but their classified as a fossorial species. It would make more sense to give them plenty of digging room first. An OBT does what it wants.

They were classed as fossorial years ago but even when I got my 1st OBT it had become known that they were semi arboreal. I kept mine in a 12"x12"x18" ExoTerra and she used the full height of it, webbing right up one side and across the top.
All I can say is if you want to keep yours as a fossorial go ahead but be warned you may never see that glorious colour.

My OBT shouldn't be doing to bad. It's got plenty of room to do what it wants. It has its burrow and a little hiding spot.

Update:

Jamies has E olivacea back in stock. Since these don't turn up as often, I'm getting it. Heck, I'd get 2 but they are $90 !!

Bad news: My last remaining bit of Eco-Earth has ANTS in it. So, after watching the history channel, WWII, I have an idea about what the final solution will be....

I think its time to play certain CDs that I'll never admit owning!! :)

Verdict:

I already ordered one successfully just about 4 hours ago!!

I got it from Jamie's. I also got my very first pokie from her as well.

I had someone else just send me an email with one.

When it rains it pours.

I put my cage build for it in the enclosure section. I'm literally out of cages!!
