Hi everyone, just come back from Blackpool Zoo with my children. In their reptile house is a poster that has always "done my head in" so today I have taken a picture to share with my TF pals.
I know it is a common mistake but if Zoos are to educate people they should get the basics right.I have also said as much on my comment form. Much to the annoyance of the kids.... apparantly I am "so embarrassing".ha ha

You'd think a zoo would know better. Ohhh, and dad's always embarrass their kids :)
I seem to a lot according to them.....lol
Well let's see if they take on board my suggestion....(I doubt it, but at least I have done the right thing by trying to educate them)

I spent years trying to educate people about the difference between venom and poison when we held Reptile Nights in York.

Me too, in Lancashire. It's not really that hard is it????
A good Google definition is....
Poison must be inhaled, ingested, or delivered via touch, while venom is injected. Simple ☺

well that's close at least. I have heard people that sell tarantulas in pet stores say way worse things....like they can "shoot" hair at u...and jump 10 feet...stuff like that...and they are suppose to know.

Thanks guys ☺I doubt they will act on it but at least I finally got it out of my system. After tutting and rolling my eyes each year, decided this year I would let them know.....haha.

That ignorance deserves a rant Phil, I'd have laughed at first then I'd not be able to resist telling them lol! You'd think they have professional Entomologists there ffs lol!
At least someone who advises yes. TBH he "reptile" room is not that impressive. I think they have 3 spiders (g. rosea) a couple of lizards, a few snakes, cockroach colony, some piranha and a camen Croc. that's it. There is a store near me, The Reptile Room in Cleveleys that has 50times the selection.....lol.
I have told the Zoo now what it should be on my succinct and to the point comment on the feedback form.....lmao
