I was planning on doing my weekly cleaning of Zoltans' enclosure today (He has managed to do a poop right at the back of his hide and it's not the nicest looking thing in the world) when my partner shouted me through to say that he was upside down!! Now after a quick freak out of hoping he wasn't dead :p:cool:, I'm glad to say that he is most definitely moulting :) Unfortunately he is right in his hide and had burrowed down a little, so it is impossible to get a good photo or film him, but he must have just started as I had done my check of him in the morning and he was happily sitting at the front of his house.

He has been placed on a higher shelf than his usual one, just because I have my family visiting and I want him well out of the way, and have the place darkened quiet a bit. A quick question, will the poop be okay to leave in there while he is moutling? Will post any updates when I can!! :D:T:

The poop will be fine, no one cleans it up in the wild and it would just stress him if you disturbed him now. I shall look forward to a photos of a bright, new Zoltan.

We had a very quick moult indeed, literally a few hours and he was out :) He is looking bigger and brighter and seems absolutely fine. Quick question, how quickly should I take the moult out? I'm wanting to cast it in resin, and frame it or something along those lines, for my nephew. I read it's important to pin it first and get it into position, but I will not risk bothering him unless I need to. x x x x

Congratulations on a successful moult.

You can either wait until he pushes the old exo out although some Ts can destroy their moults or you can use tongs to get it out if you can reach it without disturbing him too much.

Hmm, it's behind him in his hide, although I could get it from the back without bothering him. Thanks :) I was very worried, but now I cannot believe how simple it was. Just leave them to it! He looks very leggy, i can't wait for him to stretch out so that I can get a good look at his new clothes :D:T:

@NatashaG If that was his first moult with you, it can be a very worrying time but just remember that to get to his size now he's done it all quite a few times before - you're the beginner not him :). Give him a few days and he'll be out and about showing off.

I love that, completely true. :) I'm just a worrier by nature, and of course freaked out when I saw him upside down, me panicking in-case he was dead. It was such a fantastic thing to witness, and it's a great feeling to know that for all my doubts and worries, he is growing and doing well. He has stretched out, I can already tell he is much bigger, more so than I was expecting. It's been a great day!!:T::)
