Uroctonus mordax is a unique PNW scorpion species with a slow metabolism, unique coloration, and docile nature. They can be kept communally if enough space is given (5 gallons for a 1.2 triplet). Smaller enclosures work for single specimens; these animals do not move much. Due to their slow metabolism, their needs are minimal-- room temperature is fine, ideally within the 60F-75F range. Substrate must be kept moist, but they can tolerate some dryness. Heating is unnecessary, and a winter diapause may in fact aid in breeding this species. They prefer prekilled prey like small crickets.

This species is extremely common in my area, and I want to offer it to dedicated hobbyists as it is rarely kept nowadays. I especially want to encourage breeding, which is why I am offering discounts for larger groups. When kept communally with enough space, hides, and food, breeding this species is not challenging, though it can be slow.
