Typical P. murinus

Up until last night neither of my 2 P. murinus had shown me any of the behaviour that's typically associated with their species.

I got them both at the same time from the same brood at around 0.5" each. One of them ate like a beast and has grown to just over 2" in 6 months. The other one is reclusive and is only just 1".

Last night I was watering all my enclosures. For the bigger OBT (Diablo) I was dripping some water through the ventilation holes in the top of its enclosure onto its web, since water dishes don't last in there (they get turned over/webbed over etc). Diablo instantly got in the typical threat pose associated with OBTs and was going absolutely psycho attacking the water droplets: striking them, biting them, stridulating. It was both hilarious and also massively endearing at the same time. To me it’s such a charming personality. Up until its last moult it would probably have just scarpered into its burrow, but now the characteristic OBT attitude has developed and I think it’s safe to assume it’s now a certified P murinus juvenile.

Just though I’d share this experience, it made my day!

Haha. I'm almost jealous as I've never seen my OBT in threat pose.

They really are little fire crackers. It reminds me of a lot of videos and posts where people say "All Ts are individuals and can have bad days when they won't tolerate you". I'm still waiting to see an OBT have a good day! I have to rehouse mine soon, he's about 3" and ready for his adult enclosure. It's gonna be fun!:T:

I think mine must be abnormal, I've had her just over 2 years since she was a 2" juvi and she has never shown any of the OBT attitude but will just run and hide if disturbed.

@Enn49 Yeah my smaller one seems like it just wants to hide most of the time.

@timc I have to rehouse my feisty one before it moults too. I'm thinking I might just go straight for the adult enclosure and skip the juvenile enclosure. That means one less OBT rehouse :D

Lucky. My OBT will actually stroll up to the top of his hide when there's even a minor disturbance and just sit there quoting Clint Eastwood; "You feeling lucky, punk? Well go ahead, make my day. Ohhh a cricket!" He's fun.
