Plants growing in my zebras enclosure . I'm using top soil for her substrate as it's really good for burrowing. Wondering if anyone knows if random plants are safe. Should I remove then? Sorry I'm just always worried about my babies. Switching substrate tomm. As it's to moist in there to my liking. So what I'm asking is.. Should I replant or just chuck the plants with the substrate?

Any decorative plants bought at a store come from a commercial nursery. All are grown with systemic pesticides that can last a year. These pesticides are taken up into the plant's tissues and cannot be washed off. This being the case, you'll have to start your own plants from seed, or from cuttings off of mature plants that aren't laced with toxins. I know this because of the tortoises. They will try to eat these plants so we have to be careful.

The other issue is that most plants need strong lighting. Your spider doesn't want or need strong lighting, but can probably tolerate it with enough shade.

Tarantulas don’t eat plants. ;)I’d be more worried about pesticides and fertilizers myself. If you can find a organic hippie plant store you can probably find good plants. I live in Oregon...lots of hippie gardeners. I’d wash your plants and roots real well to be safe still.
