Hi,
I recently purchased a supposed pterinpchilus murinus from a local reptile shop and it is dark grey/ black and white. When I can I'll send a pic to see if I can get a positive id on it. I live in the UK myself, Nottingham specifically.

@MassExodus It's the Usambara you want.

@Shaun Motson They tend too be dull as slings but soon start to colour up

Mine when it 1st arrived

And now a year on. I have no idea how many times it has moulted in that year as in true OBT fashion it never ejects its moult from the burrow.

I understand this may not be the best of photos, but if I take the lid of its temporary enclosure it just wants to bolt. It's a juvenile measuring at about 2.5-3 inch DLS.

I'd say that is a dark colour form. There seems to be quite a few variations depending on where the live in the wild. The ones I've seen online include Usambara (orange), Tete (Chocolate), Tan and the Dark.

Fantastic, I couldn't see it in the tub when I bought it, so I was surprised to find a grey tarantula in there and not an orange one. I was quite confused at the time, and then I did some research on the various colour forms.

Yeah, I've had 4 of those. I've seen video and pics of (rcf) that I realize now were enhanced. The usambara looks dark/burnt orange, less fuzzy, I thought it was a different sp than what I've kept  The dcf and tete are interesting though. I always ***** about hiders but after my last two murinus hooked out and my lividus female died of old age, I kind of miss having a few pissy little gorgeous hermits in the collection.

The photo in my Avatar is of my Usambara female and not enhanced, she really was that bright and my little one appears to be the same. My Tete is far more confident than the others have been, only around 1" dls but it will stay still when I move the container or open the lid.

Hmm..maybe I'll try the tete. This is where I go look for it and find out it's only available in the UK :D

This photo of my Tete was taken with the lid off, if I tried that with the Usambara it would have vanished down its hole in a flash before I'd even got hold of the lid.
