Hello there, Forum. Quick question. While i`m still trying to find Caribena Versicolor and chromatopelma cyaneopubescens in my country i thought about picking something else up. Wanted someone that borrows but those are mostly lil aggressive. Like Chilobrachys species. And then i found a deal. 2 nhandu chromatus that moulted 8 times each (forgot how you call it right), male and female. For 15$. How good is that? worth getting? I like the species but not sure. Thx

if you want a burrowing species and one that will a) put a load of web down that always looks better than just a hole in the ground; b) can be kept communaly which is always interesting and very rare with Ts; c) stunning colours; and d) not very aggressive as far as baboons go then I would suggest.....
Monocentropus balfouri (Socotra Island Blue Baboon)

Below is a screenshot from the picture allocated to one of my adult females from my 'Tarantula' app

about balfouri. Saw video by Tom, forgot the other part. Like TomsBigSpiders. Saw Balfouri there, was in love. But i saw that they are more of a communal species and grow faster if you have more than 1. found sweet deal to get 5 for 40$. But still need to hear if gf will be ok with that many spiders at once

I have a saying. It may still be on my signature.
If someone says you have too many Ts, don't talk to them. You don't need that negativity in your life....ha ha

Tom Moran. But yeah. Tomsbigspiders

Balfouri are normally communal but they are fine on there own and even thou they grow slower than the communal set up they still grow similar to the rate of other Ts

*this is from research I’ve done and heard. I’ve never owned 1 :D*

I have owned several. currently have 3 separated for breeding purposes once mature etc as well a small colony (x5). The growth rate is pretty much the same for all of them.

Ah fair enough. When tom done his communal update he said he noticed faster growth rates. I guess it comes down to individual specimens again :D

plus the mix between Male and Female too as males always grow quicker. That is why if ever I am offered a sling and have a few to choose from, I usually go for the smaller one. Obviously no guarantee but as long as healthy looking I tend to pick the smaller one and try and tip the odds in my favour (even if only very slightly) for a female.

Honestly that makes sense and something I knew but never thought about. Don’t read that on care sheets do we Phil :D

Also another quick question about buying a new spider. Found PL website that sells chromatopelma. Will it survive the travel from Poland to Ukraine? Do ppl order spiders from another countries? Is it worth it?

if spidershop.pl or spiderworld.eu I believe they post throughout all of Europe (and the US) so you should be ok. I have had many orders from spidershop.pl so can recommend them. never ordered from spiderworld.eu but they have a very good reputation and I have also bought direct from both when they have been involved in UK invertebrate shows. I think the only restrictions are weather based so this time of year you should be ok. I have received spiders that have been in transit for about a week without any adverse effects.

I’ve ordered spidersworld.eu a few times and they won’t send orders if weather isn’t good enough. Ones I’ve received have been well packaged and nice spiders.

Don’t know which ones you had Phil but a fair few of them were spidersworld

I can vouch for spidersworld.eu. I have bought hundreds of spiders from them and they provide a quality service and very good stock. They are easy to deal with and fix problems immediately and without argument, not that I have had many problems.

I can also vouch for spidershop.pl, spidersworld.eu and there is also spidersonline.pl

I can’t recommend spidersonline.pl. I’ve had one sling that was infested with mites, and two batches of slings that were fresh out of the sac, don’t think they had a single feed before being put in the post. I can’t support that.

I've never had any trouble with them, all the Ts I've had from them have been fine.
