Well after 10 years of keeping Ts and never had a bite or being haired all changed today during rehousing, my Ornithoctonus aureotibialis (about 2" dls) made a bid for freedom twice. First time I caught Kymer in the confines of the tub I had new and old containers in, with a catch cup. Playing safe I just put T still in the catch cup into new home and left Kymer to calm down for a few minutes.
When I went back to remove the catch cup Kymer was ready and ran, this time up and over the side of the tub too. unfortunately the T was on the handle so I wasn't able to use the catch cup. What else could I do but use my hand to guide it back into the tub at which point I felt a prick on the palm of my hand. At least I managed to get Kymer into the new container but it's still sitting in the catch cup.
I have the tiniest little blister (in the circle in the photo) which doesn't seem to be getting any bigger.
I'll keep you posted if there is any change.

I got bit only one time, that was with my first tarantula when I was 9 years old and it was a rose tarantula, completely my fault, but I remember being terrified back then, there was no information on venom and all there were was myth and legends lol I remember cutting the wound lol and trying to suck the venom out lol it wasn't even a really bad bite, but I got over it. The most pain I had was the bite itself. The fangs. Never been bit since, and it's been 43 years. Live and learn I suppose! Lol

Glad your both still in relatively good shape! Old world spoods are always fun! O. Aureotibialis are cranky anyways! Right there with any Cyriopagopous. The MM I had was always in a bad mood at least till he hooked out. Calmed a bit after he matured but could still be onery!

I am afraid of my Pokie and Cyriopagopsis hati hati. Get better.

Only T that ever scared me was my Phlogiellus sp. baeri when I first got her at around 0.75" dls, every time I opened the lid of her container she'd charge at me but by the time she reached 3" she was the calmest T I'd ever come across.

Hati hati means danger in some language. LOL
The hati hati is Phormingochilus.

Kinda cool how some T's with some size will calm down a bit! Seems like some of my Psalmopeous once they get a bit of size will mellow a bit.
