Very nice additions. I. mira are great even if you never see them. I need to get my paws on a ceratogyrus species in general.

I'd always wanted a mira but somehow never got round to it. Ceratogyrus are great and if you prefer a NW horned there is always the Sphaerobothria hoffmanni

In my opinion they are like the pet hole, OW version of E. Sp. red, as they are little bulldozers that seem like they are not very defensive. STILL NOT RECOMMENDED FOR SOMEONE JUST STARTING IN THE HOBBY. (Directed to all beginners interpreting this the wrong way).

Hit it Dolly..Any Ceratogyrus Ive ever encountered would be fine as a starter tarantula..they're titty babies ffs..no defensive behavior whatsoever..thats, hmm, 3 sp in ten years. Just my own experience, of course..I've met many more meaner new world sp. Each tarantula is an individual..rule number one...

Congrats on the new arrivals.

So long as you do top notch research and have a strategy for containing and controlling the tarantula, you can succeed with anything.

Look at what hobbyists in Australia have to start out with if you don't believe me!!

In general in my opinion, terrestrials are easier then arboreals all other things being equal, but the exact behavior of your particular species is much more important then general trends for large regions of the world or genus types.

I think it's best to talk to someone who likes the species you want or at least has some in the same genus. You don't have to reinvent the wheel.

Of course, while I'm a skeptic on the whole ladder thing, I think starting with a NW is probably a bit more prudent, less steep of a learning curve if nothing else.

Well said. But I cannot stress enough that each spider is an individual. I've had 3 absolutely psychotic tarantulas over the years, all of them new worlds, two of them topping the general consensus list of "beginner sp." Grammastola pulchripes was one of them. The worst, actually, as he would actively chase my hand and try to bite it. This wasn't feeding response. @Arachnoclown posted a music video with a girl that had one in her mouth..I'd really like to see her try that **** with this guy..I promise she'd never let a spider crawl on her face again.
