Although Baboons are not on my most wanted list. I do have a Monocentropus balfouri, which I think is one of the most beautiful I own.

Looking around online I found the following paper.

Swimming In Tarantulas.

A little more reading brought me to Hysterocrates gigas & their natural behaviour of catching fish.

Does anyone have a set up for Gigas that allows for this behaviour? And if so what do you do with water for that part of the set up? As from what I remember about keeping my daughters tank, it takes chemicals to keep the water clear & clean.

When it was 1st introduced as H Gigas there was more than 1 species brought in with the same name, so for future reference until the genus is revised anything that was already in the hobby is H Gigas but new wild caught and captive bred slings from certain areas are known as Hysterocrates sp Nigeria and Hysterocrates sp Cameroon. Yes they can swim under water there is a few videos on YouTube, the dark den also has one and has Made an enclosure that has a waterfall in it

As far as the water, it will be fine with an aquarium water filter pump that’s what I’m going to do when mine get big enough for there final enclosure use an aquarium to house them and customise it so half is a tank the other a terrarium it’s the only reason I bought this species specifically to do this with them
