That is plain ignorance. Africa is made up of 54 separate countries, only a few of which are in the south & one of which is called South Africa. And South Africa is not even the largest African country, it is not even in the top 3 African countries by size & only just makes it into the top 10 African countries by size, at number 9. Also, not one of the worlds 5 communist countries is within the continent of Africa. And just because someone's political opponent defines them as a communist, it does not mean they are. Any more than defining someone who is far right, as a Fascist, makes them a fascist, hence the term neo fascist. But yes you are right about authoritarianism. But it is not just political, but also religious. Any regime, be it far right, far left, extreme Christian or extreme Muslim are generally capable of justifying violence to gain what they want. Look at Trumps vocal (tacit) support for some of the thugs who support him, Russia's use of violence, be it chemical attacks on the UK, cyberattacks on various counties, or the attempted murder of Putin's political opponent Alexei Navalny. And then of course we have North Korea & China & that is naming but a few of the states who are happy to use suppressive violence, or tacit support for it, for their own political ends.
