Hi everyone, after a lot of research I have gotten my first tarantula, she's a Brachypelma hamorii. I have a few questions if anyone would be able to help me. I am concerned that since I have had her (got her on the 19th of December), every time I have checked on her she has been in the same "stress" pose hiding behing her front legs and am worried this is a sign of stress and if there is anything I can do? She also doesn't seem to like the substrate, doesnt use her cave/burrow and seems to just sit on the flat cork bark (never seen her anywhere other than the flat cork bark) so not sure if I should change anything there? She hasnt eaten yet but am not worried as im sure shes just settling into her new environment. She is kept in a dark area away from people, I don't disturb her and have left her alone since I got her. I have attached photos of her and her setup if theres anything I should change please let me know.

Thanks in advance,
Andy

Red knees tend to sit still a lot--even my small 0.5 inch sling. It can take months before a tarantula becomes accustom to its new environment, older ones perhaps more so. My G. pulchripes juvie took a month after rehousing before it settled in (and calmed down a little).

Is the substrate firmly packed down aka Terra firma, or loosely poured in? Tarantulas don't care for soft, loose ground and will choose to stay on solid surfaces to avoid loose/soft.

Also, welcome to the forum.

Don't worry bud...They're responding to others on Arachnoboards for this same exact post. No need to respond to us.

Better free advice is always in high demand, I get it, but in all fairness, the folks on AB responded quicker (they must care more)

Yeah I have packed it down as much as possible so I think she must just prefer something solid to stand on
