So i got up a few minutes ago to go to the bathroom and found my 6" sub adult female vagans on the wall in front of me :) I picked her up and carried her back into my room, pulled her ten gallon enclosure out, and on the plastic top one of the circular fish feeding vents was popped out. I put her back in her house and taped the vent shut. Not very exciting, I know, but it's kind of a trip to be half asleep and see one of your spiders crawling along the wall. My first real escape in over six years :) She seemed rather put out that I ended her adventure so abruptly, and haired me a bit when I put her back. All's well that ends well ;)

Man, that'll get the blood pumping! Wow. Glad she paraded around in front of you so that you could grab her up before it turned into a scavenger hunt. It amazes me sometimes how good they are at detecting a breach or escape route! :)

Yeah it was kind of weird..I blinked a few times and it took me a moment to process the situation :) Im glad I found her, I've had her since she was around 1.5", and I have three dogs and two cats in my house..she wouldnt have lived long.

I hear you about having the other animals; I have four dogs, and I've already witnessed what happens when they find a stray cricket! That's one of those incidences when, after the fact, you realize how lucky it was you stumbled upon her! I had my carpet python get out a few weeks ago...first time in 20+ years, She could have easily destroyed the tarantula room and killed something while roaming, but she knocked over only ONE totally empty container. When I went to get dressed in the morning, she was sitting right on the floor out in the open. I've never felt so fortunate. haha

So glad this ended well for you!

Had a similar experience with my 8 inch geniculata!. She is in Ana aquarium and I normally have the feeding flap screwed down. one night didn't do it. woke up and found her missing, followed the trail of fine silk from top of lid, down her tank, across all the others in my stacking system, on the floor around the curtain and window and eventually found her under my bed!!!! So glad she did not come for a cuddle under the covers.....lol

Glad you found her! I had a 4" A. hentzi female take advantage of me *leaving the lid totally off like a dolt* and she went down a 4' tall dresser, across the bedroom, and hid under a bad in the closet. I'm shocked she made it down that dresser without injury.

Now THAT is nightmare inducing, between those awful urticating hairs, giant fangs, and genic attitude. I think I'd rather be in bed with a pokie!

Not my Genie, she is just a big cuddly sweat heart. ☺ Her fangs are massive though....lol. I think she wanted a cuddle and after exploring all my bedroom I hink she was happy to be put back tbh ☺

I keep hearing how defensive they are but mines a doll. Only thing she does wrong is snatches back her water dish and even then there's no poses or kicking. Just a slight tug of war which I always let her win. (I give her a clean dish and collect the old one later on lol)

Before I left for work I checked on her, and I'll be damned if she wasn't on the same vent I taped up. I threw a dubia in with her, maybe she was hungry..again..she's always had a healthy appetite. I'm going to look her and the enclosure over in the morning.. she's never been a climber, always a hider. She always stayed in her hide unless I tickled her out. Maybe she's past that stage, she's a good sized juvie now. Gorgeous too ;) They're definitely the darkest, most "wicked" looking Brachypelma , in my opinion. She's a sweety though.

Nice! ours has grown maybe 3" since we got it. I'm hoping next molt he or she will leave it intact enough so we can sex it. He won't climb anytime i have my cell phone with me to get a pic, when he is on the wall she drops down by the time i get back with my cell. It knows and is taunting me lol.
