Enclosure Advice for Lasiodora Parahybana

Hi all!

I am a first-time T owner and picked up a Lasiodora Parahybana sling a month back. While it has burrowed in its enclosure, it has been surfacing for food and to run around throughout the day. About a week ago, they have burrowed into the bottom of the enclosure and has not surfaced since as far as I know.

While I am certain that it indicates pre-molt/molt behavior, my worry is that their small enclosure will be disturbed too much while they molt. Not gonna touch it, but I am worried about the temperature and vibrations nonetheless. Any advice?

I had Salmon Pink for a few years. I keep all my spiders in my bedroom so they have to put up with my snoring. I keep temperature low-ish for my sleep. All spiders seem to be OK with conditions. I wouldn't worry too much about vibrations. Room temperature is OK, even on low side. The humidity in my place is 70-80%, 60% was the lowest ever.

Mine doesn't burrow, mine sits in the middle of an open area in enclosure.

Do you have any pics of the enclosure?

Relatively older pic. The enclosure is roughly 4x4 inches.

Are you asking if small enclosures are bad for molting? No, they're good for slings. Vibrations from I don't know, walking past or putting something down on the same shelf aren't going to cause a failed molt.

Moreso asking if I should be more careful/what to do given the size of the enclosure. I appreciate your comment!

I'm just curious on what you mean by "temperature/vibrations". Would you be able to elaborate on this?

I've seen other T owners warn new ones about fluctuating temperatures. I have shoddy air conditioning and live in a state with bipolar weather until December. It is now my understanding that intense vibrations are not much of a concern but I am a bit concerned nonetheless.

As long as the temperature in your room stays around 69-75 degrees F you should be fine. Are we talking about vibrations from the AC unit? It shouldn't be a problem unless the enclosure is directly near the unit.

I do have one T that I keep on my desk who freaks out when I play music on the desktop speakers. It might just be that she doesn't like my preference for Bowie and King Crimson and would rather that I switched to Taylor Swift or Sabrina Carpenter. To hell with that, though. She'll just have to deal with the complex bass lines.

Gotta expose my sling to Bowie and Ozzy early so it doesn't become a Swiftie...
