I have always thought/heard/read that t's wouldn't drown since they are hydrophobic. I have raised several hundred slings and have never had a single drowning until now. of 30 a. chalcodes 3 have drowned. they are all 1/8 to 1/4 inch and I use a tattoo ink cup as a water source.

has anybody had a similar experience with this a. chalcodes?

what has been you experience with slings drowning?

I’ve never had a sling drown before.

Tattoo ink caps are pretty deep for tiny slings. I like to use shallow Poland Sling water caps for tiny guys.

I have never had one drown either, until today. the tat cups are a bit oversized but they usually climb in and climb out easily. for now I just took the caps out and will have to be extra vigilant to keep the sub moist. I find it odd that I have never had a problem before then today find 8 of 30 of the same species. can help but suspect it is something about the species

me neither, until now...
Truly heartbreaking! I know Exotics Liar lost a older female that flipped over to molt and flipped into its water dish and drowned itself! Has made me think again about some of the extra large dishes in some of my enclosures. My condolences for your little ones. Most unusual thing to have happened.

If I ever get a Chalcodes sling I will keep this in mind. They are IMHO bout the most beautiful native North American T.
