Checked on my Ts this evening before I headed to friends for beer bbq and fireworks. Saw my H. triseriatus just inside his web tunnel kind of curled up and looked to be in molt. But then i checked my logs and it had molted just a few weeks ago.

Shining a light in the burrow didn't cause it to flee in terror so I knew something was wrong and with the legs curled knowing it wasn't molting, I knew he was gone.

No signs if any discharge around its mouth, nothing out of sorts in its enclosure, no idea what happened unless the humidity got it where I'd been running the swamp cooler with the heat wave we've had.

Now I feel bad joking about giving away the pet dirt box, but not to bad, kind of hard for me to bond with a pet I never see. Still gets ya though.

I don't have a Phormictopus yet and i've wanted one of those for a long time now. I think that will be my next one. sp. Purple if they ever come on the market again ;) maybe cancerides or sp. Green if i can't get the Purple.

I collect NW terrestrials, majority of my collection is Brachy's, i'd be up for any suggestions on other similar genera.

Maybe you know how much I love the Phormictopus spp. And I'm not the only one (see Tomoran or MassExodus!). P cancerides are the most common, but are really stunning, and keep violet shades even in mature females. P cautus are also very purple. If you can find one where you live, it'll be great! There is a polish site which sells P sp purple (and sp green), and I know they send to the USA, but maybe it's too long a trip for slings?

Speaking of NW terrestrials, may I suggest you two other beautiful genus?
Nhandu: of course, N chromatus are very well known, but N tripepii is one of my favourite. Huge, fuzzy, I adore her!
Xenesthis: if you can find a X immanis, they are so beautiful, either male or female (not like Pampho spp.)

I have a N. coloratovillosus sling, he's burrowed away but quite fiesty with his prey from the little i can watch through the tunnel.

Last time i looked at Xenesthis they were way out of my price range, i'll have to look around again and see what i can find.

Only place selling Phormictopus is KTBG (cancerides and cubensis), Anastasia has some of the Xenesthis but at $200 and $500 they're just a wish ;) Looking at the P. cancerides, where purple is my favorite color, and i doubt i'll see a sp. Purple any time soon. cubensis looks to be a brown/red color, intersting but i'd rather have the cancerides.

Looks like i'll be placing an order in 2 weeks if the weather report stays like it shows now.

Mine is very relaxed and always out in the open. A true pet rock. But she's an old lady. Younger she was a little bit more skittish. But nowadays she's only lovely.
