I purchased my rose hair a couple of weeks ago from a local pet shop. It made it a couple of weeks and that was it. As I examined the body I realized the abdomen was quite small( probably not eating. ). My fault for not looking closely.
I'm not giving up. Will try again .

I'm so sorry :(. It's possible that it was a mature male, pet shops are known for it.

Thanks for your thoughts.

We all feel bad when we lose one but it's even harder when you've only just bought it. It may be worth speaking to the shop about it.
Have a look at CaseyK and Thistles on here and Jamie's Tarantulas have a good name to suggest just a few.

Just got unlucky probably. My rosea, bought from petco fully mature, is still going strong, looking stocky and healthy after 8 years. You may have gotten a mature male, or just a very old or sick spider.

Update. Purchased another T last week. Not too sure of the species other than that it came from the southwestern USA. I fed it a cricket today and the T ate it quickly. Good news!

I'm so glad you didn't let your experience with your 1st one put you off keeping Ts. Good luck with your new friend.
If you post a picture I'm sure someone will help identify it.

From some pictures I've glanced at it looks like a Texas Black Spot. I love the colors. I purchased it from Carolina Biological Supply here in the states.

They should be able to give you the species name if you ask them.

According to Carolina Biological it's a Aphonopelma hentz. They responded to my email very quickly . Nice to do business with .
How lovely, I really appreciate the more local T's, need to re-add them to my collection now that I am keeping again,
What size is it? oh...and pictures! Pictures are always great!
