Hi,

Can anyone give me some advice as I'm new to keeping tarantulas. I have a curly hair tarantula which is about 3 inches leg span and is currently going into coconut hide and blocking entrance up with substrate. I was a bit worried that it might not be able to get back out ! Should I leave it as it is? Why is it doing this ? Is it about to molt?

Cheers

Michael

Hi Michael. Absolutely normal behavior. Most probably preparing a molt, then you shouldn't disturb it. It can take several weeks, don't worry. When it'll be hungry, it'll open the entrance to wait for a prey. If it's not premolt, it's just settling down, and making it safe. Enjoy!

And yeah, it won't have any problems to get out!

Don't worry, B. albopilosum (the curly) are great diggers and when she's ready she will come out.
