Cork bark score

So, after ordering some new tarantulas on Friday, I realized that I was running low on cork bark. I decided my best bet was to bite the bullet and try to buy some likely overpriced ZooMed bark off of Amazon so I could get it shipped to me before my new Ts arrived. The last time I ordered from them, I got a "large" and was sent a piece about 4" in diameter and 5" long. This time, I ordered a medium for $9.99 and just hoped I got something large enough to work. I was shocked to discover this in the box...





This beast is about 10" tall and has a base with a 5" diameter. WOW. I should be able to get four or five hides out of this. Almost makes up for the tiny one I was sent last time.

I thought so, too. I just wish there was some consistency with the sizing. With the ZooMed stuff, you never know what you'll get.

That's what i love and hate about ordering the cork bark tubes from Amazon. I've gotten the same results, small little tubes that aren't worth much, or huge tubes like that that you can make a bunch of hides out of. My last order was a medium tube, 8" long if i remember right, i got a 4" internal diameter tube about a foot to 14" long. I still have yet to get a forked tube like that one. That'd be great for arboreals that need a hide.

I agree completely. They are inconsistent with sizes and shapes of the tubes. After the last time, I never planned to order from them again. I'm glad I did, as this is an awesome piece of corkbark, but I'll be planning ahead in the future and buying from my normal supplier!

Whenever you buy cork bark or other similar goods it's very vague in what you're actually getting, I was in beer town last night hence being childish, was funny though hehe... That is indeed a great buy Tom... I've never bought anything from Amazon for my Ts although I've been tempted, would rather stick to the folks I trust... When you uploading again?

i get all my spider stuff from amazon. substrate, decor, cages, etc. Only thing i haven't gotten from there is the pop bottle cap water dishes
