Clear water on mouth area

Hello guys. Wanna ask a question:
Since my OBT sling spent 85% of its time hanging out up there, I found this clear water on its mouth area.
Yesterday I found it too when it was webbing the enclo (from the butt)..
.
No, I haven't drip-drop any water inside.
Yes, I feed it Wednesday night with a baby mada roach.
.
And I put a bottle cap for hide but it still want to hang out up there.
.
What happened? Will it be OK?
Was it a normal behaviour for an OBT sling?

Thanks in advance.

Was it possibly grooming before you caught it out an about? They will sometimes secrete a clear, saliva-like fluid when they are grooming. Think of it as drool. :) The firs time I saw one with this, it freaked me out. :)

(My juvinile isn't!,someone forgot to give her the memo)
Such a miserable creature, so lovely the three seconds a month I see her. She's webbed so much that it's an effort to feed and water. I drip water on her webbing now as I can't even find her dish lol
Make sure she has options honey, so she can climb or burrow, lot of times they'll stay on the sides if they aren't happy with the substrate for whatever reason. Moisture or just a type they don't like. (Seen folks use wood chips if you can believe that!)

I had someone email me a couple weeks ago that was keeping their tarantula on shredded newspaper. It was terrible. The T looked like it could barely get around in the nasty, fluffy mess. I tried to tell them that it need to be swapped out with something more appropriate immediately, but she didn't seem to appreciate the urgency and informed me that it was okay because, "that's what the guy at the pet store recommended." Ugh

Gah! This is why I have zero respect for the pet shops. I mean come on, at least read a basic book on care before giving this kind of ridiculous advice. Won't even begin to get into how many times I've had 'discussions' with the manager where I pick up the crickets for my picky eaters. :/

The part that KILLS me about the pet stores is that they decide to sell these animals, and they literally do NOTHING to learn about their care. For many, they are just little oddities to draw in customers; bugs that aren't deserving of proper care or attention. It's disgusting. It seems that they take the first crap care sheet they find online and pass the information along like it's gospel. The customer, wrongfully assuming that a store that would choose to sell tarantulas might actually know something about their care, then takes the animal home and replicates this poor husbandry. Many never realize the error until they stumble on places like this forum and discover that they were fed bad info.

Sadly, some refuse to accept the information. I've literally had people tell me that their going to ignore my suggestions because it's not what the pet store clerk told them. It's so frustrating. In the case of the tarantula above, it ended up dying during the molt, likely do to the fact that the newspaper was sapping the moisture from the air and there wasn't a water dish (I used to use it for snakes...it absorbs water big time).

Sorry...end of tirade!

Some of the care sheets and "advice" out there is truly terrible! I've always told people about Toms blog because it's right on the money.... I was once told by a pet shop employee that I should keep all my Ts on sand!!! I then educated her and she was quite embarrassed lol but I'd imagine that's what she was told by some manager :D

Ha! Thanks so much, bud! :) Glad you got someone that would listen. :)

Agreed, if you ignore the required temp and humidity he copies from other sheets. What i like about his are his notes on how he keeps them you don't get on the other care sheets.

He (mike) suggests fruit flies for slings? Bahahahahaaa that's a hassle nobody needs! :D
Tried them once, never again ;) i like pinhead Lateralis roaches, but those are hard to find online to purchase, and i'm waiting for some of mine to mature now to start breeding again. Also, the Little Kenyan roaches are good, but they're a little spendy.

Here's what I do with the micro-tiny brachy slings. In a vial with 1/3-1/2 substrate to dig. Mist for moisture as needed. Then make one air hole on top. Feed sling piece of roach, and Drosophila appear.

Hi. Sorry took time to reply... Stuck 'till midnight in traffic and rain.
(*___*)
.
Well, its nor exactly grooming itself. It was doing the 'happy but dance' after snatching the baby roach. Up there..
It only ate down on peat for the first 5 mins. After it crunch and crumple the food to manageable size, it went up..
Well, drooooly T. Lolz..
I hope it wont continue. It was quite confusing and worrysome for me. Haha

Remember OBTs are semi arboreal but I'd imagine a sling would rather be on the deck... Is the substrate damp?

Not at all. Havent drip/drop any liquid at all..
I just drop baby roach and close the lid again. I know its semi arboreal so I planned to put some icecream stick inside but the ground was already full with the bottlecap for hide.

So should I change the substrate?
The seller thought it might be hungry. I fed it but it stays up there.
.
The substrate was very very slightly damp. Its not the dampness you can feel with your hand. But you know its been sprayed a little bit before. The color changed, darken just a little bit..
But I didn't wet anything after receiving the T.

Well, the sling was smaller than I expected. So I cannot put it inside my already-prepared plastic jar.. I kept it inside the shipping tube.
My seller said no need to change the peat/rehouse because of the size.
.
The tube was without any hole. It was quite thick and stiff (the plastic) so I am afraid to punch anything there (what if its cracked and broken)....
The substrate was a tiny bit (very very very tiny bit) damp since the color was different but its not damp!!! Not..
How to explain. You'll know its been lightly sprayed but you cannot feel it in your hand.
