So guys, I read now on a Facebook group that next year there will probably be a name change for B smithi into B hamorii and that B annitha is actually B smithi so B annitha will no longer exist.
Is that true? If yes why do they keep changing names?

First I'm hearing of it..doesn't surprise me though. B smithi used to be Euathlus smithi, strangely enough..I guess Euathlus is some kind of placeholder sp name. Or something..

I asked Hrvoje, the lecture was in Munich, a guy from Nedherlands spoken. It's not said when the name will be changed but as he said it will be changed in 2017.

I'll believe it when they update the world spider catalog with the change ;)

I think it's a shame if they change the name... :( The first T I ever saw and heard of was B smithi and I always wanted one since then...
Same for me... except that I have one since six years now! :)

But my very first tarantula was a tiny Brachypelma boehmei sling (sold to me as a smithi...). He became a beautiful mature male and ended his six years life as an appetizer for a lady boehmei.

I have to get me one... I wanted it to be my first T but my friend ended up giving me a large L parahybana female for my B-day 3 months ago. It was supposed to be the only T I own but 3 months later I ended up with 5 :p
B boehmei is also gorgeous, and your male lived for quite long :)

As they say: welcome to the addiction!
L parahybana are wonderful, your friend made a very good choice!
Yes, my male had a good life, but he was so skittish and restless and anxious... poor him... and he had to support all my beginner's mistakes. He truly was a survivor!

It's like chips, you can't have just one :D
Seems like you loved him very much :) He was a lucky T.
