A new arrival

I'm thrilled to have received a new Omothymus schioedtei sling this morning. Although it will never replace my big green man, Tigger, who was with me such a short time after he matured, I am so hoping this one will be a lady that I can watch grow for many years.

Meet Lapan (it means 8 in Malaysian)

I had mine from a sling, about the same size as the new one, and he amazed me the way he filled his containers with web and substrate tunnels. Sadly he didn't get to web much in his final container as he had his final moult just after I'd moved him but at least I got to see quite a lot of him before he passed.

Didn't know anything about this species until now, although I recognize the old name it was classified as. Beautiful tarantula.
