I can only say that over here in the UK the largest shop has females and young females listed but never seems to have any males listed .
So I wouldn't buy a juvenile from them for the reasons you listed above . Also I expect mystery boxes are a great way to shift the extra males they pretend...

His are the best i have ever seen and he does guides on how he makes them .
Depends on the size but if they are hungry and the prey is the right size for the spider it will grab it . But don't ever leave a meal worm in it will just bury . A single correct size cricket can be left in over night if not taken straight away .
