    Bioactive enclosures

I can confirm, pothos are an excellent plant when it comes to hardiness, except for one breed that I think may be called jade? Golden is good. I've had some for years and years, one that my sibling got in elementary school and one that the neighbors tried to throw away 11 or so years ago. I...

    Crashing the dinner party

My cat used to just sit and watch my tarantula for hours when I got her, he’s the best hunter I’ve ever seen so I think he knew there was something alive in there and wanted to kill it, but couldn’t figure out how around all the fortifications I put up. My elderly cat (recently dead - rest in...

Is it bad to give a rose hair multiple crickets?

So I know that some old-world tarantulas enjoy having multiple crickets at once, but I’ve only heard vague bad things about giving multiple to a rose hair (or any new world tarantula). Is it bad for them to eat multiple feeders? Is it just a precaution to avoid spare crickets in the enclosure...

    Dying t

She's probably exhausted after pushing for so long, hopefully soon she'll be well enough to eat! By the way, does she ever stand in the corner half up the wall when she's stressed? Maybe when you first got her or after the rehousing? I don't really understand why but they tend to do it when...

Could you send another picture today/tomorrow (whenever you're awake/home, we all have different time zones) so we can see how she's doing?

I guess his name is Zingu.

Same, it had seemed more likely that she wouldn't make it. I guess she just had some important fake moulting to do. Method acting maybe.

    Plants growing randomly in substrate

Haha, I agree, that little mushroom is adorable. On its way to a meeting, I think. I can see the eyes and the tie too. Reminds me of a little family that showed up in a plant pot one day.

Looking better! Looks like she's strong enough to support herself, even without using those two front legs. I'm glad! She's very pretty too, I love that fresh new hair on her abdomen. Looks like she combs it daily.

    Plants growing randomly in substrate

I haven't had any wild enclosure plants so far, but I did know someone once who found a plant growing in their drain. They potted it and it turned out to be a tomato plant. Seemed appropriate for this thread. I also seem to recall there being some random plants growing in my bucket of grass...

    Dying t

Moving her legs out from under her sounds like a good sign but we'll have to see the picture. I'm glad there's still hope!

Yeah, I agree. I don't really "like" euthanasia because it feels like maybe if I just waited longer they'd recover, but really it's the best you can do for them to try to minimize their suffering (it's easy to feel like life is worth more but I think if something is suffering I think it's really...
