I'll fish it out later. So, if I put the mat on the side of the tank, what is the best way to fix it? And where would the best place be to put the thermometer wire? Thanks.

I've put an arrow on the entrance, the temp is just below 70, but as the other arrow shows, she's dug down pretty close to the mat. I'm not sure if it's to cool down, but she's approaching the heat source without realising it, or is she digging down to get to heat because it's too cold?

Hiya, I'm posting because Rudy has been underground now for a good few weeks, about five or six. Her burrow is pretty intricate, and there is fresh web around the entrance. She doesn't seem to eat unless I prod a cricket into her den, but for the last week she's been house sharing with a hopper...

    Tarantula Pet Names

I called mine Rudy. The name is taken from a very old b/w Polish TV show that my wife introduced me to, called 'Czterei Pancerni I Pies' (Four Tank Men And A Dog) about a Polish T34-76 tank crews fight through the war. The tank is christened Rudy by the crew.

Where from? Is there a seller in Oldham?

I have a heat mat because the living room is cold, especially this time of year. The thermometer is digital and I adjust the mat temp daily to keep it nice. It's an old stone house so the insulation isn't the best.

Yes, it's blooming cold here in Oldham up on the tops. Her tank is a steady 75 during the day. Before I got the mat the poor thing hardly moved at all it was that cold.

I have a heat mat that is almost as big as her tank so I only have half of it in use to warm half of it and leave half cool. Is it a daft idea to get another T and put the tanks side by side so the mat warms half of each? I know it's advised to have heating from the side rather than below but...

    Brachypelma vagans, help!

When I saw these I thought she'd picked up a parasite from the substrate or something. We learn something new every day though.

Some shots of her in the first few months. The last one is the best mid-molt angle I could get without disturbing her. I had a feeling she was due as she wasn't eating and hid away more than usual so when I saw this I was very relieved there wasn't actually something wrong.

Do a Google image search for book lungs. I saw something on mine which scared the life out of me. I read about some worrying stuff until I realised they were called book lungs.

    Do tarantulas poop?

The thread that brought me here. My lad has a Gecko which I know drops one usually in one corner of his set up, so when I now see similar in the corner of my Ts home I now realised they actually go number two. Somehow I always overlooked that and assumed they just used up whatever they ate and...

Hi from Oldham in the U.K. I'm still pretty new to this and have had Rudy for about seven months. I'm not sure how old she is exactly but I've seen one molt since I've had her, in fact I'm not sure she's even a she yet, but I wanted to keep my first molt intact so I'll use the next one to find...
