Arboreal enclosures should have more climbing space than ground space. These enclosures are often done by using a regular aquarium placed on end with an acrylic door fassioned as it's lid. They should have 3 inches of substrate for smaller enclosures and 6 or more for larger enclosures. Items should be provided for your tarantula to climb on as well as some where for the tarantula to hide (cork bark tubes are great to use for a hide). A small water dish should also be provided with a small rock in it so that the tarantula can not drown.
There are deep burrowing/tree dwelling species that require more specialized enclosures. These should have at least 10 inches of substrate at a minimum and more climbing space than substrate.
