I think the cute eggs with legs photo may get more votes...might be a bad move. ;)
ha ha....yeah probably right. I think I had missed my 15 minute window to edit the pic so thought I would try and post another anyway whilst still trying to remain "in the spirit" of the competition. The dilemma for the mods will be if BOTH get sufficient likes to be on the shortlist....PMSL

Please dont think I am being pedantic but pete is a very nice Mexican Blood Leg (Brachypelma boheimi) the Mexican Red Leg is usually a common name given to Brachypelma emelia. :)
OK Cool.. How do you define the difference? Is it that Pete has more than one red leg segment? As I noticed semus t has only one red segment!

They are 2 different species within the Brachypelma genus.

Visually the best way to tell the difference is as follows (using pictures of both of mine)

B. boheimi (top)
The knee through to the segment before the foot are red
Carapace in the main is a solid colour
This is what 'Pete' is

B emelia
Only the segment after the knee is red
The carapace lis lighter and has a noticable dark triangle

Hope that helps :)
