Would it be ok to fast roach colony?

Would it be ok to starve my roach colony (lateralis) for a few days to maybe a week with out food? I have a steady population and was just wondering if starving them for a few days a week would force them to munch on dead roaches or even roach feces on the enclosure floor? Thanks

Less food will slow breeding. Don't think it will make them eat the grass on the bottom.

Get some dermestid or buffalo beetles and throw them in with the colony. They aree what you call cleaner beetles and they will eat all the dead stuff and feces.
