When to change substrate

Hello all! I am curious what you all think on how often to change the substrate. How long can you go before changing it all out? I’ve had my Costa Rican striped knee in her enclosure for almost 6 years and havnt changed it. She does digging and her enclosure smells great lol no mold or anything. There is lots of poop tho. Like all over the glass lol why do they do that haha

If there is no stinking, no mold or mites, you don't ever need to change it. Simply spot clean the poop off of the walls and you're good!

I agree with @Ratmosphere, my Lasiodora Parahybana hasn't had her substrate changed in the 9 years she's been in her current tank.

On a related note, a lot of mine seem to have a poo/bolus corner. I'll go after that with a plastic spoon every once in a while. I don't reuse the substrate if I rehouse or one dies. That gets dumped. I've never changed it though.
