I agree. As an ophthalmologist, it seems to me that the vibrant coloration, even in Ts with weak venom, such a brachypelma, would not offer protection from predators. In fact, their coloration might attract, say a baboon, tarantula hawk, or raptor. I personally believe that their eyesight is better than the experts think. The only evolutionary advantage I can see for the bright colors is, like the author suggested, for mating purposes.
