I'm incredibly new to tarantula keeping, and have had an avicularia metallica for a little over 3 months now, and she just molted for me about 4 or so days ago.

The thing is, she was very thin (and dehydrated) when I got her, so thin that I thought she was a male. To top it off, she's a picky eater and has only taken dubias maybe twice, while preferring red runners (which I hate) and didn't get a chance to plump up a whole lot before molting.

How thin can a T be before it's too dangerous for them? Her abdomen is probably half the size of her head now, while it was a little bigger than her head before molt. I know I just need to wait until she hardens up before trying to feed her again, but I'm worried for my baby.

Also, here's how perfect of a molt she left me! Love her to bits

As long as she has fresh water available she'll be fine. Arboreal Ts have more slender abdomens than terrestrial Ts.
