Can My MH Roach Molt Upside Down?

Hey all, I've been sitting and watching one of my madagascar hissing roaches molt for the last 2.5 hours, and I'm trying to get a time lapse video since I've never seen one molt. Do you think it'll be an issue that the roach is on it's back? It's been molting for at least 5 hours and hasn't...

    Help! (escaped)

Any idea what species? Whereabouts do you live? The T would probably be hiding from your pets, but I would worry about them getting inquisitive/trying to hunt the T, as it might try to defend itself, especially if it's a more aggressive species. My best advice is to clean your home the best you...

Help! I fed my avic. metallica directly after her molt!

Thanks to everyone who responded to this! I figured I should update: My T is fine! It's been two and a half weeks and she's got quite the appetite now. However, she still seems mad that I poked a hole in her web and has taken to using a cork hide as her new home. In fact, it kind of seems like...

    Help Identify

Hard to tell not knowing the scale, but it looks like a huntsman to me. Sparassidae olios or some similar variation. Apparently they have a pretty painful bite, so I'd mind its personal space!

Keeping millipedes, isopods, and roaches together?

I have heard that isopods are harmless for millipedes and roaches, and can actually be beneficial as they maintain cleanliness in the enclosure. However! I've also heard that they commonly eat milli eggs & roach nymphs, so if you're intending to breed I would recommend springtails instead.

    Temperature Regulation for Various Inverts

Hey all, summer is ending and I haven't had to put much thought into heating my enclosures, as room temp has been just fine for my avic. metallica, millipedes, vinegaroon, and madagascar hissing roaches. Colder weather is right around the corner and I am anticipating that my home will be a lot...

Help! I fed my avic. metallica directly after her molt!

Thank you!! I ended up doing that last night. Haven't seen the feeder yet to remove it, but these particular roaches love to burrow. A day after the incident and the T is seemingly fine. Fingers crossed it was a good molt and everything is fine. I appreciate the help!!

Help! I fed my avic. metallica directly after her molt!

I was just feeding my avic metallica a small roach and accidentally dropped it in her web & when I looked in I realized there was a fresh molt in there! I panicked because I know if she attempts to eat before her fangs harden, that could be potentially fatal. Her web is shaped kind of like a...

Vinegaroon - to heat or not to heat

Hey everybody, I've recently acquired a giant vinegaroon and as I'm head over heels for her, I want to ensure the highest quality of care for my new friend. I've received conflicting information about the enclosure temperature I should be aiming to maintain. Some sources say to keep it heated to...

    Sexing A. Avic molt

Thank you for the reply! I tried to unfold it using your advice but the area was damaged and very fragile so I wasn't able to flatten it without it basically disintegrating. Maybe I'll have to wait for the next molt. I appreciate the help though!

Suspended water dish for a. avic?

Thanks all!! I decided to try both a dish attached to her bark and a dish on the ground, just to see what she prefers. I really appreciate all the input ( : The last picture is her in her favorite corner by the heating mat (I only have one because I live in a really cold area and my apartment...

Suspended water dish for a. avic?

Hi, I'm an insect enthusiast/owner who is new to owning a tarantula. I've read different things about ensuring the hydration of my avic. The breeder said they would get almost all of their hydration from their prey and not to worry about a water dish, but that doesn't seem right. Some people...
