It’s not quite the new year yet about a half hour away for us in New England. But a Happy New Year to those of you in Old England.
Since you are posting from the future, how is the New Year? Anything we in the past should be aware of?
Yeah second one seemed to me to be a G. pulchripes although sometimes the yellow stripe colors don’t always come through in pictures. Also to me the Chaco Golden knee can have a reddish tinged hairs on its abdomen especially towards the back.
Yup that’s what I love about my G. pulchripes. Bulldozer. Redecorator. Quirky.
She used to come to a small water dish when I was filling it and tap at the falling water like she was trying to stop it. Then she started sitting right in the dish when I tried to fill it.
I added a longer but...
Yes Raya is thinking “maybe if I scrunch down small enough, she won’t see me.” And I bet she is wishing, perhaps for the first time that her water dish was a lot bigger.
And what is the origin of the name Miskitos? I think I know.
HerpCult sells good enclosures. I think they have a base in California but may have headquarters and or operations elsewhere. They have a good reputation, perhaps not quite as good as Tarantula Cribs, but still very good in my opinion. They seem to be more readily available and I have bought...
Ok, I have six tarantulas that were misidentified when I got them in early 2022. Why I kept them so long I don’t know. I am hoping to trade with a person I have spoken to but want to make sure I have them identified correctly. I have long thought that they are Thrixopelma pruriens.
Please update us on what is happening. I am not sure how much help the seller can do as you had it for a week, unless a longer guarantee was provided.
Feel free to post some pictures of the enclosure, that might help in determining any issues. Sometimes slings just don’t make it.
I have used heat mats occasionally but never on the inside as GarField000 stated. I place them on a separate piece of sturdy window glass rather than straight onto the enclosure.
This way I provide an extra layer of distance between the heat and the T. Also it makes it easier to adjust the...
Sorry, probably should have excluded you Europeans and elsewhere for this one. It is an uplifting book. Although it is primarily for children it is a nice story at any age. Author is E. B. White.
The webbing on the ground may be a prelude to it covering up the entrance altogether for “me time” or molting. Some tarantulas have been reported to line the outside of their dens with webbing and put urticating hairs down as a defensive barrier.
Oh, and who knows, your tarantula may just be...
Yeah there is some sick stuff out there. I attribute that to mostly people wanting to maximize views for revenue. There are some who have a morbid interest in such things.
