hug {{{Entity}}}} my N. chromatus loves to give me moutly fits. She does it in secret and THEN she tosses out cryptic, tiny bits of molt for days that are impossible to use for sexing! (and so, of course, the "she" is wishful thinking only)
Great choice in reading material, and kudos for taking your time and doing your research. They are tempting little wonders, but starting out on the right foot never hurts. :)
Welcome to the hobby/enthusiasm. No matter how you approach it, it's a fabulous interest and this site is a great find...
I belong to and run a local Invertebrate club in Washington State. We don't do much because finding people to get involved is like finding a needle in a haystack, but we have started monthly google hangouts to talk T's and watch youtube videos.
The first one was a blast. :)
Someone on here mentioned that bugsincyberspace.com was WA local. He doesn't have a huge selection, but there's some nice t's on his list for beg. species.
And since we have some WA folks here, if you guys are interested, we are forming a WA state invert enthusiasts group, mostly for online...
I'm going to be taking a family vaca to Maricopa AZ over spring break. Just south of Phoenix, I believe and I'm seriously hoping to sneak away and see some T's in the field. I came to the hobby as an arachnophobe too. It didn't last long. I still twitch a little at loose spiders in my house, but I appreciate them more, and my Ts are my obsession. I adore them. Even more than I ever loved the reptiles. There's just something amazing about almost everything they do...
Thanks. I really am in the middle of nowhere though, so it's to be expected. The trade-off is no traffic, lines or crowds.
I went to the ATS convention in Phoenix before my kiddos were born (I was literally six months pregnant wandering the desert looking for Ts) and it was such a wonderful...
Yes! Lack of enthusiasts, and enthusiasm. I'm dying to put together a spider group in the area, even if it was just for the occasional get together (even annual) and some online hangouts/meetings, but aside from my immediate circle of spider friends, all I get from WA is an echo.
And I live in...
