Hi all
Tank is set up, thought I'd show it here in case anyone wants to point out a glaring issue (better to find out now than when the T dies/escapes!).
Glass tank, scrubbed till my fingers bled, taped on the joins to ensure they don't come apart (it's an old tank), heat mat firmly attached...
Thanks both. I'm looking less for some sort of toggle (I can see the benefit for security with it latching, but it's not what I'm going for) and more a sort of drop down lip.
I've done an amazing sketch/oil painting on my ipad, the colours, scale and in fact everything about it are not true to...
(Changed the thread name rather than starting a new thread)
I know there is a solution, an easy one, but I'm struggling to accurately tell Google what I want so I'm getting bad hits, hopefully I can put it better here!
I have a tank, it's an old (well cleaned) fish tank (that never had a fish...
Hi all
Basically I have a nice posh spacious and secure tank in the cellar that once housed a snake. It is mighty dusty (and has a dead house spider in it, which doesn't bode well...) so needs a good scrub before it can be used for housing a T.
If I cleaned it with the same stuff as I clean...
Thanks, that makes me feel better, I think I can consistently get past 20c even during the night, provided the T pretty much huddles against the mat (or at least stays close to the wall, the corner would be ideal as the 2 mats would overlap), but the room will be much colder in general.
I could...
Do you run your heating overnight then? Because I've got up to a cold house (thermometer says 15C, I'm beginning to doubt that thermometer...). I think our heating needs an upgrade, maybe our boiler will break and we can replace it!
Hi
Maybe you run your heating more than me? :)
At the mo there is a very small (6 inch) mat against the small side of the tank and a long (18 inch?) mat stuck to the wall behind the tank.
I'm beginning to suspect my thermometer tbh, I stuck it in the airing cupboard and it has stayed at 23C...
Thanks all.
I've done some (more) reading and as it happens a woman at work had an oil filled heater in her office, after reading and speaking to her I can't see any danger with one of those (besides the 'normal', as you say everything electrical can fail/catch fire in theory, though I suspect...
My issue with space heaters is they all come plastered with 'do not leave this unattended' warnings, so I'm cautious to leave one running (albeit on and off on the thermostat/timer) while I go to work/overnight.
Haha, I know, I'm guessing this isn't the right site for asking about keeping Ts warm, as most of the users seem to be from the native areas of the Ts so of course their rooms are warm enough.
I should point out aside from first thing in the morning I'm never cold in the house, but them I'm...
Hmmm, my wife has suggested something that might be causing us confusion... I'm talking about Celsius, are you both thinking Fahrenheit? :)
That would be 60ish F! And that's mid winter mid night, so it isn't going to drop lower (I'd hope!).
So my question is, would a T die at 16C/60F, or just...
